Company History

McDonald Services, Inc. was established in 1980 by Bryan and Wilma McDonald in Bay City, Texas.  It was Bryan and Wilma’s vision to provide a mechanical repair shop to Bay City and Matagorda County.

In the early years the business concentrated on the grass industry. Bryan honed his skills on grass planters and worked on the first Princeton forklift ever built which was owned by Bay City Turf. Bryan worked with Sid McMillan, a Princeton forklift dealer and salesman. Bryan also became a Princeton dealer, providing sales, service and maintenance of Princeton forklifts.

In the meantime, Wilma became increasingly knowledgeable in mechanical parts of all kinds and built a reputation of being “the lady that can identify and locate any part, especially those hard to find.”  Growing up the child of grocery store owners, Wilma also had a keen sense for business.  By combining Bryan’s mechanical and hydraulic knowledge with Wilma’s knowledge of parts and business, they built a company that flourished and grew. McDonald Services, Inc. became known as the area’s “hydraulic headquarters” because their hydraulic and cylinder repairs as well as sales of hydraulic hoses and adapters met the high demand for such services.

In 1995, Bryan and Wilma decided to manufacturer their own forklift. That was the year the MacLift was born! Since its creation, the MacLift has become a top quality and reliable work horse in the grass industry.  Bryan and Wilma’s work ethic, reliability, trustworthiness and integrity have earned McDonald Services, Inc. the reputation of being a mainstay of the Central Gulf Coast.

After serving customers for over 34 years, Bryan and Wilma decided to retire in July 2014. They transferred the business to the next generation, their son Coy McDonald, who is both honored and proud to take the reins of McDonald Services, Inc. Coy’s vision is to continue with what his parent’s established and keep it growing. MacLift is the industrial forklift that meets the needs of those looking for both reliability and the sturdiness of a truck carried forklift.
